Dan McElheny is far from a new face in Hawk Country. He has been part of the Eastern community for 13 years, first as a high school social studies teacher, then as co-coordinator of Eastern’s Hawk Team program, and, most recently, as an assistant principal since 2021. The 2026-27 school year marks the first year of Dan’s leadership of FHE as principal. Many of our families know Mr. McElheny as Eastern’s cross-country and track and field coach, where his teams have earned a state championship and multiple conference titles. Mr. McElheny holds a master’s degree in education with a focus on instructional technology from Central Michigan University and a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Calvin College. His deep roots at Eastern and the foundation he has built will carry Eastern into its next exemplary chapter.
