Home of the Rangers! Nestled in the heart of Ada Township just outside Grand Rapids, we serve over 500 students in grades 7 and 8 with a talented team of over 40 staff members. At CMS, our guiding vision is simple yet powerful: every student, every day, will be seen, heard, and cared for. We have a school community that cares about kids, who understand the challenges of middle school, and who place an emphasis on supporting the “whole child.”

CMS consistently ranks among the top middle schools in Michigan, thanks in part to our strong academic performance, inclusive culture, and dedicated staff. We pair a rigorous core curriculum in math, language arts, science, and social studies with a wide variety of exploratory electives. From world languages to ceramics, woodshop, coding, photography, and Project Lead The Way STEM, we have a program for you! Additionally, we provide opportunities for students to shine through extracurriculars such as band, choir, orchestra, Science Olympiad, Odyssey of the Mind, Math Counts, and a long list of school athletics. We also offer robust support through counseling, peer-leadership programs, and an overall student-centered approach.

We offer a variety of athletic opportunities for students to get involved, stay active, and be part of a team. Our programs are designed to help student-athletes develop their skills, build character, and represent their school with pride. Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or trying a sport for the first time, Central Middle School athletics welcomes students who are ready to challenge themselves and contribute to a positive team culture. We encourage all interested students to explore the sport that’s right for them and get involved!
