ROBERT COON

Robert Coon brings more than a decade of experience in secondary education, instructional leadership, and student support. Coon began his teaching career at Grand Blanc High School, then spent four years as a social studies teacher at Portage Central High School. For the last four years, he served Mattawan High School as the dean of teaching and learning, where he evaluated and coached classroom teachers, led professional development, and oversaw data-driven student support systems, including Multi-Tiered System of Supports interventions, professional learning community curricular cycles, and restorative behavioral practices. He has experience facilitating IEP, 504, and student support meetings to ensure strong family collaboration and effective accommodations, among other accomplishments. Coon holds a master’s degree in education administration from Michigan State University and a bachelor’s degree in political theory and constitutional democracy, also from MSU.
