John DeStefano has dedicated 30+ years of his career to education, spanning both at the collegiate and high school levels. Currently, he serves as the Assistant Principal at Central High School and the Director of Fine Arts for Forest Hills Public Schools, a position he has held for the past 15 years. Prior to this role, he held the position of Director of Bands at Central High School for 13 years.
John holds a Bachelor’s of Music Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Master’s degree in Music Education and Percussion Pedagogy from the University of Nebraska Lincoln.
Throughout his career, John has consistently demonstrated a profound passion for the arts, prioritizing fostering a sense of belonging and providing an exceptional learning experience for all students. His commitment to education, the fine arts, and the community is evident in his leadership, collaborative approach, and unwavering dedication to helping students reach their full potential.
In his spare time, John still loves teaching the FHC drumline, traveling and spending time with his wife and three children. All five are avid Pittsburgh sports fans.
