ALLISON WOODSIDE DE CARRILLO

Allison Woodside has served as Principal of Ada Vista Elementary since 2021, leading with a focus on strong relationships, instructional excellence, and a deep passion for bilingualism and global citizenship. She previously led Burton Elementary from 2016-2021, where she guided schoolwide initiatives that strengthened community engagement, improved attendance, reduced behavior incidents, and supported a positive, student-centered school culture.

As a bilingual Spanish speaker, Allison prioritizes clear communication and meaningful family engagement, helping maintain high levels of parent satisfaction and community involvement. She is committed to staff development, regularly providing coaching, professional learning, and opportunities for teacher leadership.

Prior to joining Grand Rapids Public Schools, Allison worked internationally in Ecuador as a Vice Principal, English Coordinator, and university instructor. She holds a master’s in School Principalship, along with extensive experience in curriculum design and educational leadership.

Outside of school, Allison enjoys spending time with her husband and their two energetic boys—exploring the outdoors, biking, hiking, swimming, and finding new places to adventure together. She also treasures any available downtime to read and recharge.
