ATHLETICS AT FHPS

Forest Hills Public Schools is proud to offer a rich and expansive athletics program that develops students as athletes, leaders, and members of the One Forest Hills community. From introductory opportunities at the elementary level to competitive varsity programs at the high school level, FHPS athletics are rooted in a commitment to sportsmanship, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence. Our programs consistently produce state championship-caliber teams year after year, a testament to the talent of our student-athletes and the dedication of our coaches and staff.

HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS

Our athletic programs are a source of tremendous pride across our three attendance areas. All high school athletics are conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations set forth by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA), ensuring fair play, student safety, and the highest standards of sportsmanship and eligibility. The excellence of our programs is reflected not only on the field, court, and pool, but beyond. Each year, more than 100 Forest Hills graduates go on to compete at the collegiate level, a remarkable testament to the quality of coaching, training, and competitive experience our student-athletes receive.

Forest Hills student-athletes have the opportunity to compete across a wide range of MHSAA varsity and junior varsity sports throughout the fall, winter, and spring seasons.

MIDDLE SCHOOL ATHLETICS

Middle school athletics at Forest Hills are equally guided by a commitment to excellence, sportsmanship, and student development. Our programs are conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA), providing a competitive and standards-based experience that prepares students for high school athletic participation.

While the majority of our middle school sports are organized and coordinated through our building athletic departments, boys’ and girls’ tennis and boys’ and girls’ swim and dive are coordinated through the FHPS Community Enrichment department. MORE OPPORTUNITIES TO COMPETE

One of the unique strengths of Forest Hills Public Schools is the structure of our three attendance areas: Forest Hills Central, Forest Hills Eastern, and Forest Hills Northern. While we are united as One Forest Hills, our three-attendance-area model means that for most high school sports, we field three varsity teams, three junior varsity teams, and more, creating significantly greater opportunities for student-athletes to compete, develop, and find their place on a team. Rather than limiting roster spots, our structure expands access, allowing more Forest Hills students to experience the growth, camaraderie, and competitive excellence that athletics provide.

ELEMENTARY OPPORTUNITES

At the elementary level, students are introduced to athletics and physical activity through a variety of organized opportunities. District-sponsored programs, high-school led athletic camps, Community Enrichment offerings, and Forest Hills nonprofit clubs/programs provide age-appropriate ways for young learners to explore their athletic interests, build fundamental skills, and discover a passion for sport in a fun and supportive environment.

SUPPORTING OUR PROGRAMS

FHPS athletic programs are funded through a combination of the district’s general fund, pay-to-participate fees, event admissions, and generous donations from our community. But the heartbeat of Forest Hills athletics goes far beyond funding. Our athletic booster clubs and parent volunteers play an invaluable role in the success of our programs, showing up at every game, meet, and match to cheer, volunteer, fundraise, and support our student-athletes in ways that make a lasting difference. From organizing team meals and managing concession stands to funding equipment, uniforms, and travel, our boosters and parent communities are essential partners in cultivating the exceptional athletic culture that Forest Hills is known for. Whether you are a seasoned booster club member or a first-time sports parent, there is a place for you in athletics, and we invite you to get involved, show your Hawk, Husky, and Ranger pride, and help us continue building something great for every student-athlete in our community.

Contact your student’s coach or athletics director to learn how you can support your athlete.
