With over 20 years of experience in education, Mrs. Heather McKinney-Rewa has found value in collaborative leadership that incorporates student voice and leadership. She strives to build a school community where the development of the whole child is the foundation. To achieve this, she values offering a wide array of academic, athletic, and artistic programming, encouraging students to explore and thrive in high school and beyond.
Mrs. McKinney-Rewa took the opportunity to become a program coordinator and then a middle school and high school assistant principal after spending over 10 years in the classroom. Pursuing these leadership positions challenged her to dive into her passion for designing curriculum, leading professional development, and writing policy. These experiences highlighted her ability to look through a wider lens and have a greater impact within a school community.
Creating a warm and welcoming school environment where students are valued, encouraged, and challenged in the classroom, on the playing surface, and on the stage works toward her goal of supporting and developing all students. Mrs. McKinney-Rewa truly enjoys witnessing students’ successes due to the dedication of talented educators, coaches, and directors.
