Dawn Heerema brings a deep commitment to student growth, instructional excellence, and inclusive learning to her role as Principal of Meadow Brook Elementary. She holds a Master’s Degree in Education and began her career teaching in Grand Rapids and Denver, Dawn Heerema brings a deep commitment to student growth, instructional excellence, and inclusive learning to her role as principal of Meadow Brook Elementary. She holds a master’s degree in education and began her career teaching in Grand Rapids and Denver before landing in Hudsonville Public Schools, where she developed a passion for supporting the needs of all learners. That passion led her to serve as a district gifted and talented coach, then to the curriculum office, where she supported K-12 teaching and learning through instructional coaching and professional development with a focus on elementary practices. In 2018, Dawn moved into school leadership as a K–5 principal, cultivating a school community grounded in collaboration and connection. She joined Meadow Brook Elementary as principal in 2022, where she continues to champion an environment where every student feels known, supported, and valued.
Dawn is especially passionate about literacy development and enjoys watching students grow through rich mathematical dialogue. She’s committed to leading a diverse building where students and educators grow together.
